Reinstatement of Obligation to attend Mass
**Beginning the weekend of July 3-4, 2021**

Why is attending Mass in-person so important? St. John Chrysostom reminds us, “You cannot pray at home as at church, where there is a great multitude, where exclamations are cried out to God as from one great heart, and where there is something more: the union of minds, the accord of souls, the bond of charity, the prayers of the priests” (CCC 2179). Attending the in-person celebration of Sunday Mass and receiving Jesus in the Eucharist are vital to our lives as Catholic Christians. We were created for Communion. Whether you are returning to your home parish, or seeking a local parish on vacation, your participation in the Mass unites you with the Church — the Body of Christ. This communion transforms us as persons and enables us to make manifest the Kingdom of God in our world. The celebration of the Eucharist truly is the source and summit of our faith.

Welcome Katie Jacobson!!!!

I am very excited to announce to our Little Falls Tri-Parish Catholic community that we hired Katie Jacobson as a new and full-time director of religious education and youth minister for our high school and middle school youth! Katie comes to us from the Brainerd Area.

Katie is now very passionate about her Catholic Faith! She has worked as a director of religious education in Cross Lake, MN and helped with many youth events in both Cross Lake and Brainerd. She has experience with taking young people to events like Steubenville Conferences. She describes herself as very passionate about the Truth, which is what eventually brought her to the Catholic Faith. She explains of herself that she loves to share the Truth with youth and build personal relationships with them. Katie also just finished her certificate in St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body. Katie is an outgoing person who is not shy to make connections. She has already in these last few weeks been present at many of the meetings of our parish leadership, including staff and parish council.

We are looking forward to Katie’s strong leadership in organizing opportunities to for our middle school and high school youth starting this summer such as volleyball and outside events. She will also be preparing for the Fall for forming our youth and their families in the faith including Theology of the Body and for the sacrament of confirmation. She will also be discerning with the faith community about looking to provide special opportunities for youth such as a mission trip.

If you see Katie please welcome her to our faith community and keep her in your prayers as she seeks to do a wonderful ministry to our youth!
